About — Joonseo Chang

I’m the aggregate of too many movies, Catholic guilt, Kumon, and swearing in four languages.

I grew up in Bogotá, Qingdao, John Hughes’ suburbia of Northbrook outside Chicago, and Seoul.

Spanish was my first language, my first unpaid internship was as an altar boy, and I went to a British school in China wearing a blazer and tie every day while snacking on latiao.

For all that moving around has given me, my punishment is not knowing where I’ll be buried.

Eventually, I returned to Korea for college, before being conscripted into the 89th Artillery Battalion near the DMZ.

I enjoy practicing taekwondo poomsae, attempt to make music with my friend Jonghyun, and write short essays.

The past year I’ve been Grab biking around Southeast Asia, hiking the Scottish Highlands, and hibernating in the Japanese countryside.

I currently live around Yeonnam-dong and own an air mattress. No worries, you can take the bed.
